Exam Information

Year 7 exam

The Year 7 science exam is a one hour exam paper based on a mixture of topics from Biology, Chemistry and Physics. This exam normally takes place in late April.

The topics covered are:

  • Induction
  • Cells
  • Reproduction
  • Forces
  • Circuits
  • Acids & Alkalis
  • Simple Chemical Reactions

The Year 7 exam is not used for setting. Students will continue to be taught in form groups in Year 8.

Year 8 exam

The Year 8 science exam consists of two sections, both of which are one hour long papers.

  • Paper 1 contains all Year 7 topics
  • Paper 2 consists of the Year 8 topics listed below

Year 8 Paper 2 topics:

The Year 8 science exam is used to determine students’ sets at the start of Year 9, which is when we start teaching the GCSE course.
